It’s Always the Unexpected

Yesterday was a decent day at the beginning. If you follow me on twitter, or facebook you know what i’m talking about.

It started out just fine and dandy, got up, got a shower, got dressed and went to work.  Nothing unusual about that right? What went wrong is what I discovered when I came home yesterday evening.

I came home turned th water on to wash my hands and I had no water! Grrr. Ok so before I go into panic mode I had to think, did I pay the water bill.  Yes, I did. In fact I’ve paid more than I owed. So the next thing I thought was did they turn  my water off accidentally? Walking out to the meter I hear it running. I opened it and sure enough that needle was just a spinning.

Next thing I did was look for ground water and didn’t see any so I went to my crawlspace. Now keep in mind it’s getting dark now. sure enough there’s water under the house….and not just a little bit…i’m talking about 8 inches or so.

you can see where the water was

you can see where the water was

You can see where the water was until the city came out to shut it off.

The yellow thing is a tape measureNot the best way to start vacation.

So anyhow, I took half the day off to meet the people that came out to fix my silly leak.  Turns out the main line busted coming out of the ground.

Yes, it was my fault, I didn’t shut ALL the vents around the house.  The one the was closest to the pipe is the one that is so hidden you forget it’s there.

They’ve left and now I’m waiting on the water to heat so I can finally take a shower. I feel so dirty.IMG00012-20091222-1244
